Mt Begbie
and Columbia River Bridges
Late
on a summer afternoon, C.P.'s Seaboard Freight from Coquitlam, #952,
rolls across the 100 foot bridge towards Revelstoke, a mile and a
half ahead,
where the engines and crews will be replaced before continuing eastwards
on the Mountain subdivision.
Normally a passenger engine, Hudson 2860 occasionally worked on freights.
The 60 year old bridge was replaced in 1968 while the single lane
road bridge is still in use; controlled by traffic lights at either
end.
